On-screen (Session 7), with Mr. M absent from Box 13 HQ, a wooden box arrived: about 1 foot wide, 4 inches thick, of pine (the woodchips packed inside are pine too), stamped with customs marks from Portugal, Spain, and France — plus several stamps that match no known country. Inside was an ornate birthday invitation.

The crew established:

Three Threads, One Card
This single invitation joins the GBR napkin (Abigail's), the **green triangle → Marcus/CDT**, and a new Boston venue — delivered in a **pine box with impossible customs stamps** to the crew's own set. The napkin's **"LEÃO" (Portuguese "lion")** and the box's **Portugal/Spain/France** marks rhyme; the case's Iberian/Latin thread (Decraig Corp, Hygromanteia) keeps surfacing.

The Hidden Letter (behind the backing)

Peeling the paper from the backing revealed a second, aged sheet — a coded letter in the style of an espionage "open code," with a gold Goetic seal in the corner. Text verbatim:

Our London business is good, but Vienna and Berlin are quiet. Mr. D. Lloyd has gone to Switzerland and I hope for good news. He will be there for a week at 1496 Zermott Street and then goes to Turin and Rome and will join Colonel Parry and arrive at Athens, Greece, November 27 or December 2. Letters there should be addressed King James Blvd. 3580. We expect Charles E. Fuller Tuesday. Dr. L. McQuaid and Robert Unger, Esq., left on the 'Y. X.' Express tonight.

Not a Cipher — a Handwriting Exemplar (Intelligence, Session 7)
An **Intelligence roll** identifies the passage: it is a **common text exemplar** — a **standardized dictation text used to collect a handwriting sample.** The *words* are boilerplate (they carry the exotic-sounding names, cities, and numbers precisely because an exemplar exercises every letter-form). The evidentiary weight therefore shifts **off the content and onto the hand**: what matters is **whose handwriting this is**, and that **someone was asked — or made — to produce a sample.** The "open code" reading is likely a **red herring** the exemplar's spy-letter flavor invites.
Handwriting Profile (Session 7)
Analysis of the sample: the writer is **male, formally trained in calligraphy, and right-handed** — and **Dr. Barbus is excluded as the author.** So Barbus's prints mean he **handled or processed** the exemplar (consistent with a crime-lab examiner), but **someone else wrote it.** A **calligraphy-trained** hand fits the case's ornate documents and its **"obsessed-about flourishes"** — most suggestively Asa Daribondi (dream-architect, logbook-keeper; see The Daribondi Books), though Horselover (scriptwriter) and other trained hands aren't excluded. Compare against known samples: Daribondi's logbook, Horselover's parking-lot pages, Abigail's annotations.
The Prints Are Dr. Barbus's — a Crime-Lab Man (Kip, Session 7)
Kip lifted **fingerprints from the paper matching Dr. Barbus** — a **popular Massachusetts Crime Lab administrator** who **withdrew suddenly** five years short of retirement into a file full of **complaints, hearings, and mental-health questions.** The **number in his police file is the number printed on the invitation.** A **forensic document-examiner** handled a document whose only real content is a **handwriting exemplar** — he either **collected or produced** it — and then came apart the way everyone near this case comes apart. The Goetic Seal Returns — in Beeswax
The **gold seal** on the letter is the same style as The Purson Seal (a Goetic sigil ringed by its spirit's name), and is **made of beeswax.** A named demon's seal riding a birthday invitation welds the **Goetic thread** (Purson, Seere, Hygromanteia) to this Boston lure. **Beeswax** is the traditional matter of ritual seals and, per the Hygromanteia's formula, an **"herb"** (organic sealing matter) — and it echoes the small **insect flourish** inked beside "Zielony." Exact spirit: **not yet identified.**
