Rooftop Symbol
foundRooftop Symbol
A carving found on the studio rooftop wall, November 15, 2015. Located beside the chair, concealed beneath the journal.
Description: A rough hand-carved symbol in concrete — a vertical arrow or triangle pointing upward, intersected by an "X" and anchored by an "M" or "W" shape at the base. Angular, deliberate, deep-cut.
Effect: Viewing the symbol forces a Sanity check. Cory Vandermere, Daniel Boulton, and Wade Keegan all checked — all passed.
A tracing was made by Cory Vandermere.

Reappeared in New York — Session 5
The same symbol turned up on a napkin **taped inside the airshaft** of Abigail Wright's Manhattan apartment (Airshaft Symbol) — again forcing Sanity checks. The Dallas roof carving and the Manhattan airshaft napkin are the **same mark.** (Image above is the airshaft napkin — the clearest look yet at the sign.) Also seen here drawn by the paper dragon and described in gold ink in the case file.
It Is the Yellow Sign
Identified Session 5: this mark is stamped on the cover of The Red Book, the 1951 English translation of *The King in Yellow* — i.e. the recurring symbol is **the Yellow Sign.** What Horselover was carving (or copying) on the roof was the sign of the King in Yellow.
Unknown Origin
Unknown whether Horselover carved this himself or found it here. Its proximity to the chair, telescope, and journal suggests it was part of whatever he was doing on this roof.
