Ghouls

Mythos knowledge acquired by August Vale via Obsess (Bond Phase, end of Episode 6). Source: old Yahoo forum posts, reached through a chain of websites after midnight.

What Vale Learned

Creatures living beneath graveyards. They feed on the dead and move through tunnel networks beneath cities. The forum posts described details that matched what Vale had witnessed at Kessler Asylum — specifically the uncovered grave and the gnawed bones.

The key line, from a forum post:

"If the dogs refuse to enter the cemetery, and then it already belongs to the ghouls."

Connection to Kessler

The dog pack at Kessler did not go into the numbered cemetery area — their prints and activity concentrated around the building. The numbered graves showed a pre-dug opening and disturbed bones. Per this account, that's not the dogs. That's the ghouls.

The dogs and the ghouls may be two separate active presences on the property, not one.

Open Questions

• Are ghouls responsible for the uncovered grave at Kessler? The disturbance predates Kyle's visit.
• Is The Dogman a ghoul, a ghoul-adjacent entity, or something else entirely?
• Are there tunnels beneath Kessler?
• Did the federal government's alleged use of Kessler involve awareness of the ghoul presence — or did it create the conditions for it?
• Kyle Alexander survived seven days inside the building. Did he encounter the ghouls, the dogs, or both?
