Leaned out while Palmer and Mordant were knocking, to say Thomas was downstairs. Helpful and matter-of-fact about the impossible:
- The way upstairs is just the stairs — which go up six floors.
- Apartment 12A is on the sixth floor.
- The night manager's office is on the sixth floor (see Mr. Kasine).
- He didn't know "Anna" but attended her going-away party (The Sixth-Floor Party) — "Anna" almost certainly Abigail Wright.
He Treats the Night Floors as Ordinary
Roger volunteers sixth-floor geography (12A, the manager's office) with no sense that it's strange. To the tenants, upstairs is just upstairs.

- Has he personally been to the sixth floor, or only the party?
- Why does he call Abigail "Anna"?
